Packaging Standards and PDS Template updates:

05Dec2019:

The Cummins Packaging Data Sheet – Revision 002 is now available:

Please note, the Cummins' Packaging team has updated the Packaging Data Sheet (PDS) template (now Revision 002). This new template incorporates several enhancements, including mandatory fields for critical information and reminder prompts.

You can download the new PDS template here and visit the Standards and Processes page on the Supplier Portal for more information.

Beginning December 9, 2019, Cummins requires that all newly created PDS templates follow this updated template for all PDS submissions to Cummins Sourcing Managers. When saving, please enable macros and save all files as Excel Macros Enabled Workbook XLSM.

We know our supplier partners may need to make arrangements to be compliant with this updated PDS template. In following the Cummins Values of Integrity and Teamwork, we recognize this fact and are happy to work with all suppliers to ensure a seamless transition.

These updates will improve our efforts to capture data correctly and increase approval frequency, and we thank you for your prompt attention to and partnership in this matter. For any questions, please contact your Cummins Sourcing Manager.

26Nov2019:

The Cummins Site-Specific Packaging Requirements – Revision 3 is now available:

The Cummins Site-Specific Packaging Requirements – Revision 3 is now available on the Supplier Portal.  This document communicates the Packaging requirements that may be outside or in addition to those communicated in the Global Packaging Standards for Production Parts.  Please review this new revision and understand the requirements for all sites that you as an external supplier or internal Cummins supplier may be shipping to.  Every effort should be made to abide by these requirements immediately.  For any questions please contact the Site Packaging Representative or the Sourcing Manager associated with the shipments.

19Sep2019:

Major Update to the Cummins Global Packaging Standard for Production Parts (GPS-PP) and Global Packaging Standard New and Recon Parts:

The Cummins Global Packaging Standards have gone through a major update to clarify and simplify the requirements for all Production and Aftermarket Parts Packaging being shipped to Cummins sites.  These standards should be used as the design guide as the Supplier plans and designs the packaging for parts being shipped to Cummins locations.  These Standards should be considered the benchmark for the development for the Packaging Data Sheets (PDS) that are to be submitted to Cummins prior to shipping parts to Cummins sites.  Following the prescribed standards will improve our efforts for lower cost, better performance, improved sustainability and reduce the potential of additional supplier costs associated with non-conformance

We know that our partners may need to make arrangements to be compliant with these updated standards.  In living within the Cummins Values of Integrity and Teamwork, we recognize that fact and will work with all suppliers to assure an easy transition.  We require that:

  • all current packaging solutions are compliant with the GPS-PP Rev. 1; and,

  • all existing and new packaging is required to be in compliance with the updated GPS-PP Rev 2 and the Global Packaging Standard New and Recon Part Rev (dated 6/1/19) by no later than March 1, 2020.

In addition to the global standards, some sites have site-specific standards. All Suppliers need to review the Site-Specific Packaging Requirements and ensure compliance.

Please visit the following page Standards & Processes (Supplier Portal) for details.

For any questions please contact the Packaging Representative at the site that will be receiving the parts.
